HI, I’M STEPHANIE…

I never imagined becoming a life coach. For over 20 years, I devoted myself to healthcare — first as a pediatric nurse, then as a clinical leader. At the bedside of children fighting for their lives, I cared not only for patients but for their entire families, carrying their grief, offering strength when they had none, and holding on to hope even when it felt impossible. Over time, I began to see that every employee, just like every parent and patient, longed to be heard, seen, and valued. But with more than 80 employees, physicians, and countless families depending on me, there was never enough of me to go around. I poured myself out day after day, working 16-hour shifts and running on little sleep, until I found myself in a state of chronic stress and burnout. One day, I looked in the mirror and asked, “Is this really all there is to my life? Is this my purpose?”

At the same time, my personal story was unraveling beneath the surface. I grew up in a broken home and carried the wounds of abandonment, rejection, and the constant need to be “enough.” Mistakes left scars on me and on those I loved most. Despite earning a graduate degree, building a respected career, and raising two amazing kids, I felt unworthy of love — stuck in old cycles and unable to see who I truly was. That changed when I found a life coach. With guidance and support, I began the hard but beautiful work of challenging my beliefs and rediscovering the woman behind the wounds. I faced my past, learned the tools that stopped the endless spiraling, and found a steadiness that became the foundation for real healing. It was my turning point. I realized that while pain will always be part of my story, it no longer defines me — and it no longer has the power to hold me back. Since that pivotal change, I’ve continued to experience the transformative power of coaching, each time reminded of how compelling, valuable, and nurturing it can be.

WHAT I LEARNED WHILE BEING COACHED

HOW TO REGULATE MY ANXIETY

Feeling anxious is a normal process. Even the most confident CEO, surgeon, or athlete will feel anxiety when the stakes are high. Learning how to recognize anxiety and then regulate your nervous system is a powerful skill. It prevents disassociation (feeling like you had an out of body experience during that important business meeting at work or forgetting half of what was said during that meaningful conversation with your significant other).

HOW TO VOICE MY NEEDS TO FAMILY, FRIENDS, COWORKERS, AND ROMANTIC PARTNERS

Another big hurdle for me. Limiting beliefs of unworthiness & shame made me feel insignificant therefore, my needs were ridiculous and too much to ask. Not expressing your feelings is disingenuous, self-righteous, and fuels resentment damaging the very relationships that you value the most and want to protect.

MY PAST DOES NOT DEFINE ME

Allowing myself to be comfortable with who I am because of what I’ve been through not in spite of it. Thoughts that I am unlovable, unworthy, not good enough, or too much for anyone to love had consumed my mind. These limiting beliefs exposed themselves as shame, controlled by childhood wounds. The limiting beliefs that I developed as a little girl cost me years of happiness & joy. Now, the past is simply my story, not my identity.

TRIGGERS CAN BE MANAGED

Recognizing triggers and proactively facing them head on is empowering. This is a skill, that if used correctly, can be applied repeatedly without fail. This technique diffuses the trigger ultimately protecting the feelings of everyone involved. Most importantly, it shuts down the self-sabotage “poor me” tactic promoting self- accountability.

HOW TO LOVE MYSELF AND MEET MY NEEDS

This was a biggie for me. I still find myself failing with this one at times. Things that matter are hard. Love grows by practice. Choosing me and doing things for myself felt weird and uncomfortable. However, it is necessary, especially during the healing process.

Curiosity drives my work, and research is at the core of my practice. I actively engage with leading therapists and coaches, stay current through extensive reading, and immerse myself in diverse perspectives through podcasts and professional networks. This ongoing growth allows me to deliver proven, practical strategies that clients can immediately apply to create meaningful results in their lives.

I love animals. Horses, cows, goats, and dogs of any kind are my weakness. During elementary & middle school years, I spent my days on a farm in West Texas with a family that wasn’t my own. The farm was a haven, my peaceful place, far away from all the stress in my broken home. And, I hope to one day have a farm of my own so I can share that peaceful haven with my kids and my future grandchildren.

Family is everything to me. My children are my greatest accomplishment. I have two incredible sons, both in their early 20’s. My youngest is pursuing a music career and slowly embracing his independence as an adult. My oldest is a videographer, editor, and creative director. He is happily married to a wonderful woman and is 5 years sober. A big part of my journey was accepting my part in my son’s addiction and how to properly support his sobriety. The constant unconditional love from my children through all the mistakes, ups and downs is indescribable. This consistent, reliable love, and acceptance kept me going even when at my lowest.

I have a healthy relationship with my partner, Zach. He reminds me daily that I am deserving of love. He is my best friend, my safe place, and my biggest encourager. Our relationship continues to gently push me toward more growth. It is a constant reminder that healing and healthy love are possible, and it inspires me to help others believe in the same for themselves.
